York Street Mill

Bury

STATUS: Planning

COST: £1.5m

ROLE: Full Architectural Services

York Street Mill, located on the fringe of Bury city centre, holds a distinct position in our portfolio. A commercial building dating back to circa 1891, this historical edifice bears witness to Bury's rich industrial past. Our firm has undertaken the responsibility of transforming this once vibrant, now redundant, commercial hub into a modern residential apartment complex.

Change of Use

The primary goal of this proposal is to attain full planning consent for the change of use of York Street Mill. Currently, the upper floors of the three-storey building are uninhabited and offer immense potential for urban regeneration. We aim to convert these spaces into 24 modern residential apartments, each meticulously designed to offer a harmonious blend of historic character and contemporary comfort.

Full Architectural Services

We will be providing a full range of architectural services for this project. This encompasses initial consultation, design conceptualisation, obtaining planning permissions, overseeing the construction process, and final implementation of the design plan.

The Building and Location

York Street Mill, a three-storey commercial building, was built around 1891. Located just on the outskirts of Bury city centre, it is ideally placed for a residential project. The site is well-connected to the heart of the city while offering a serene environment, relatively free of the bustling city's noise and congestion.

Vision

Our vision for the York Street Mill project is to inject new life into the ageing building while preserving its historical significance. The planned residential apartments aim to cater to the growing demand for urban living spaces in Bury, effectively contributing to the revitalisation of this area.

With our proven expertise in seamlessly blending historic charm with modern design principles, we envisage the York Street Mill not just as a residential project, but as an architectural endeavour that pays homage to Bury's industrial heritage while looking forward to its future.
